About this puzzle

16 islands on a 9×9 grid need 20 bridges between them. The biggest island number is 7.

2 islands need at least one bridge to every neighbour.

Where to start

3 islands take the maximum their neighbours allow, so every connection there is a double bridge.

A good first move: the island with the number 4 at row 9, column 3, which can see 2 neighbours.

At least once, a pair of islands would seal itself off from the rest if you joined it the obvious way. Avoid that and the rest follows.

→ Counting moves: bridges, skyscrapers and lights
